Our History

SER Child Development Center has provided affordable, educational childcare services for low-to-moderate income families working and living in the City of Dallas since 1998 .  SER originated as an on-site childcare service to parents who were attending workforce training at Dallas SER, and, in1995, evolved into a stand-alone program offering enriched programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers

Over 80% of  SER’s children are considered minority and live with poverty level or low-income families tadacip.  SCDC families’ annual income levels are: 49% under $20,000, 32% between $20,000 and $25,000; and 17% between $25,000 and $30,000; and 2% between $30,000 and $35,000.  We have no families who are making $35,000 or more.

SER CDC prepares children and families for a smooth and smart transition to elementary school, giving them the tools they need to succeed and thrive.  Over 1200 children and families have been cared for at SER CDC in the past 10 years cytotec online.

In 2002, SCDC, in partnership with Eastfield College and the City of Dallas, implemented Proyecto TAP, a CDA training and apprenticeship program for Spanish-speaking women who wanted to either enter the child care field or upgrade their current work-skills.  Over 46 women have attended the Proyecto TAP program, with 16 completing their CDAs, and 7 promoted to mentor teacher status.

In 2006, SCDC changed leadership and refocused on its core business, early education, through intensive teacher education and by updating classroom materials and furnishings.  Additionally, SCDC began in earnest to diversify its funding by providing additional complementary programs for parents (Parent University).

In 2007, SCDC, in partnership with NCLR and the ChildCareGroup, convened a train the trainer Pre-K Parents as Partners (PAP) Institute for 25 early education teachers and professionals, which prepared trainers to work with parents and teach them methods and activities for becoming advocates for their children in the elementary school environment. Additionally, SCDC opened its summer program, Summer Madness, and provided numerous field trips to museums and active learning opportunities for 20 children 6-10 years old.  In the fall of 2007, SCDC in partnership with the City of Dallas, conducted a 6 week Pre-K PAP parent training for 20 parents culminating in a town hall meeting between parents and local principals to discuss how parents might better partner with schools to advocate for their children throughout the educational process.
